As a number of you are aware Surrey County Council have sold the Cedar Road site to Michael Shanly Homes for the provision of a new building to house a new library and provide a small amount of community space funded by the construction of 14 dwellings on the site.
Following the intervention of our MP, Mr Dominic Raab, there have been fresh discussions between Surrey CC and the Chairs of the Cobham Conservation and Heritage Trust, the Cobham and Downside Residents Association, the Cobham Chamber of Commerce and Envisage.
As a result the community space could be increased subject to agreement between the parties, i.e. SCC and Shanly, and made more flexible.
We hope to see some outline plans soon and it is anticipated that Michael Shanly Homes will submit an application for outline planning in early January.
On this basis it would be the intention of the Community Groups mentioned above to hold public meetings with the community during mid January 2011 to enable us, jointly, to respond to Elmbridge Borough Council as consultees to the planning application. You will be emailed further about this. For those not on email, there will be notification in the public library, on notice boards in Hollyhedge Road and in the press.
